A Village Romance by Lynda Renham writing as Amy Perfect

About this book…

As a heatwave rolls into Little Perran, so does love. Billy Baxter, the has-been rock star, and Rafe Wylde, the hunky farm worker arrive, both destined to cause havoc as they touch the lives of the villagers. Milly finds a new job and things start to look up for her, but she is unaware that a ghost from her past is looking for her.

Funny, Compassionate and Sizzling Sexy, a Village Romance is a page-turning summer read. A Village Romance is the second book in The Little Perran Romance series by Lynda Renham writing as Amy Perfect.

My review…

This is a lovely little novella set in the village of Little Perran. Seriously, where is this village because I want to move there as soon as possible!! It’s the second in the Little Perran Romance series (The first being A Christmas Romance) but it can definitely be read as a stand alone book. I haven’t read A Christmas Romance but felt very relaxed about reading this as it didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything or leave me with any questions unanswered.

When aging rock legend Billy Baxter moves to Little Perran, disaster never really feels too far away as he struggles to settle into a very different lifestyle! I just loved Billy from the minute he appeared with his political incorrectness to his social ineptness! But the star for me is the village itself, with its colourful characters and all the little local shops, it left me feeling very nostalgic as its just how village life should be.

This novella is the the perfect length for packing up for your holiday and it will make any journey pass in the blink of an eye as you get sucked into village life. I read it in an afternoon and was left with a smile on my face as it is a lovely feelgood romance with touches of comedy and melodrama.

The book is left on a bit of a cliffhanger (a bit of a shocking one that I didn’t see coming!)  and you will need to buy book three to find out what happens to the villagers next. Thankfully there’s not long to wait as Book 3-A Summer Romance is due out very soon so keep checking back for my review!

I’m very grateful to the author for providing a review copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased review.

  1. Very upbeat review and I’m on the lookout for books for the summer so will consider this. Great that you warned about the cliffhanger ending – I’ll be somewhere without internet so would need to buy the next book before I travel.
