It’s Day 2 of my review catch up and today’s review is of The Murder Pact which is number 5 in the DI Sara Ramsey series! Huge thank you to Mel for my review copy of this book.
About this book…
Another gripping instalment in this fast-paced thriller series from NY Times bestselling author who has sold over two and a half million copies worldwide.
A murderous act…
The last resort for some.
One determined detective with a battle on her hands to unravel the truth.
A shocking case, that is both perplexing and intriguing.
However, can uncovering a disturbing secret bring DI Sara Ramsey’s latest investigation to its astonishing conclusion?
Other books in this series are:
No Right To Kill – an Amazon top 70 novel
Killer Blow – #1 bestseller in Hard-boiled mysteries
Oooooo I loved the idea behind The Murder Pact and the first thing I need to say is that it would make a brilliant tv show! I could imagine the murder suspects being played by some of our finest actors here in the UK and think it would work so well on the small screen in that 9pm slot! It was an inspired piece of plotting that kept me intrigued throughout, even though we are aware from the start who is guilty of the crimes being committed and why.
DI Sara Ramsey has quite a lot on her plate here when an unidentified body turns up on her patch. She’s also got rather a lot going on in her personal life too (this is another reason I’m a fan of Mel’s books as her detectives are shown to be human with their own problems going on too) so it’s a full on investigation right from the start for Sara. But problems with her team must be put on the back burner when the body count starts to rise and Sara is faced with a crime that has far reaching consequences for them all.
Sara Ramsey is another brilliant creation for M.A. Comley who delivers strong female characters with their own relatable style and experiences. But for me, this time it was the plot that worked perfectly! I loved the idea behind it and how it was put into action! I know I’m being deliberately vague here but it’s definitely a well delivered plot twist that you need to go in blind to! And without being too revealing I do want to say that as the body count rises, the methods of dispatch got quite inventive!
Once again, M.A. Comley kept me gripped from the very first page. She writes such involving and relevant books with characters we can all relate to and want to come back to again and again. This is another series I’ve been enjoying but I have to admit that this is my favourite Sara Ramsey so far. More please!
