Murder by The Sea by M.A. Comley

What’s this book about?

Carmel Cove is a peaceful community… except when death pays a visit.

When the friend of a friend goes missing and a corpse is discovered, Private Investigator Ruth Morgan is tasked with solving yet another death in her hometown.

The case is a perplexing one with few suspects and more questions than answers. Did the victim die at the hands of someone else? Did they commit suicide after falling out with their spouse? Or is it simply a case of accidental death?

In her quest to uncover the truth, Ruth puts everything on the line, her business and even her relationship with her fiancรฉ.

What did I think?

I’m loving this new cosy crime series!! Often I want to move away from the dark side but the cosy crime mysteries often don’t engage me as much as I would want them too. Thankfully, Mel Comley always delivers engrossing and interesting cases for her heroine, PI Ruth Morgan, and I’m always happy to see what’s happened in her life since her last outing!

One of the main things I do love about this series is that it doesn’t stand still, it is slowly developing and evolving throughout. Ruth’s relationships, both professionally and personally, are always moving-not always in the right direction to be honest, but that mirrors real life and so maintains an element of realism in Ruth’s world.

I’ve recommended this series to friends and family and I’m delighted that they are enjoying it just as much as I hoped they would. So roll on book 4 in the series!

I am a Norfolk girl living in leafy Cheshire with my grumpy Scotsman. A mum and nana who lives for my family but who is also addicted to reading (and Marmite!) I will read almost anything but my preferred genres to review are psychological thrillers, crime procedural novels or women's fiction. My kindle is my life but I also have a substantial bookshelf in my cosy reading room where I can go to escape the stresses of family life with plenty of tea and chocolate. I am a member of netgalley and bookbridg. I review on Amazon, where I'm a Top 500 reviewer, and Goodreads. You can always find me over on Twitter @jocatrobertson for any review requests.
