If there are two sides to every story, someone is always lying…
Jack: Three words to describe my wife: Beautiful. Ambitious. Unforgiving.
Anna: I only need one word to describe my husband: Liar.
When a woman is murdered in Blackdown village, newsreader Anna Andrews is reluctant to cover the case. Anna’s ex-husband, DCI Jack Harper, is suspicious of her involvement, until he becomes a suspect in his own murder investigation.
Someone is lying, and some secrets are worth killing to keep.
OMG this book stole me away from EVERYTHING whilst I was reading it! If you thought “Sometimes I Lie” was a twisty and complex psychological thriller then let me tell you that Alice Feeney has taken it to the next level here! Jack and Anna, ex husband and wife, both unreliable narrators and both hiding a fair few secrets from each other and the outside world. Who can the reader trust? Pick a side! But be prepared to jump back and forth between each viewpoint until you’re so mentally exhausted, you don’t care and you JUST WANT THE TRUTH!
His and Hers follows Jack and Anna’s connection to a murder victim who was well known to them both. And that’s all you’re getting from me regarding the plot as this is one book you’re better going into blind. It certainly didn’t follow the path I was expecting as the twists came thick and fast towards the exhilarating ending. I love unreliable narrators to to get two for the price of one here made for a gripping storyline. There were some very unexpected and difficult to read scenes at times but they were so vital to the plot that they had to be included to convey the horror of what was taking place.
His and Hers is an engaging and intriguing psychological thriller that will have your head spinning. Brilliantly written, it’s an addictive page turner full of (mostly) unlikeable and damaged characters. Just how I like my psychological thrillers! Absolute perfection from Alice Feeney!
Alice Feeney’s debut novel, Sometimes I Lie, was a New York Times and international bestseller. It has been translated into over twenty languages, and is being made into a TV series by Ellen DeGeneres and Warner Bros. starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Her second novel, I Know Who You Are, is out now.
Alice has lived in London and Sydney and has now settled in the Surrey countryside. She writes in her garden shed with her dog, a giant black Labrador who is scared of feathers.
