Dead Perfect by Noelle Holten

So excited today to be on the blog tour for the 3rd book in the DC Maggie Jamieson series by Noelle Holten. Huge thank you to Sarah Hardy at Book On The Brightside Publicity for my blog tour invite and review copy of the book.

A murdered woman…

When the body of a young woman is found in a local park, DC Maggie Jamieson knows she’s dealing with no ordinary killer.  The murder victim has been disfigured; her outfit changed to resemble someone else.  Someone Maggie knows all too well…her close friend Dr Kate Moloney.

A determined detective…

Maggie is determined to keep her friend safe, but with Kate already struggling with a threatening stalker, Maggie now fears Kate’s life is in real danger.  Who else would want to harm Kate and why else would the killer be turning his victims into exact replicas – his living dolls?

Can Maggie find the depraved killer? Or will Kate become his next living doll?

There aren’t many series that I have on my “must read” list nowadays but this one featuring Maggie Jamieson is one that features very highly and is one of the best around at the moment. If you’ve never read any before then don’t worry, Dead Perfect can be easily read as a standalone book but I guarantee you’ll be hooked after reading it and want to go back and catch up on the relationships that have been built upon in the previous two books.

Maggie is called upon to investigate a case that is a little too close to home for her. The body of a young girl is found and she’s been dressed to resemble Maggies friend and colleague Dr Kate Maloney. She had been turned into a “living doll” before her death and Maggie is determined to catch the killer. Kate is still struggling with her stalker-could this be who is targeting young women who look like her? Don’t be fooled into thinking you will know the answer as this is Noelle Holtens most twisted and disturbing crime thriller so far!

This has to be my favourite book so far in the DC Maggie Jamieson series! I read it in one session as I physically couldn’t leave it alone! Noelle Holten has managed to “beat the blogger” 3 times now as I find it absolutely impossible to work out who the murderer is and why in her books! And I love that! She builds the perfect tension by slowly building her storyline and introducing a cast of carefully crafted characters for us to study before hitting us right between the eyes with the most powerful denouement as she brings all her threads to a shocking conclusion.

Dead Perfect is a brilliantly written book that has been well researched by an author who knows their subject matter better than most! If you love the Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons then this is a must buy for you. Highly recommended by me!

I am a Norfolk girl living in leafy Cheshire with my grumpy Scotsman. A mum and nana who lives for my family but who is also addicted to reading (and Marmite!) I will read almost anything but my preferred genres to review are psychological thrillers, crime procedural novels or women's fiction. My kindle is my life but I also have a substantial bookshelf in my cosy reading room where I can go to escape the stresses of family life with plenty of tea and chocolate. I am a member of netgalley and bookbridg. I review on Amazon, where I'm a Top 500 reviewer, and Goodreads. You can always find me over on Twitter @jocatrobertson for any review requests.
