The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides #blogtour @Tr4cyF3nt0n

I’ve been waiting since I read this on my summer holiday last year to share my review and the day has now finally arrived! Many thanks to Tracy Fenton for the invite to take part in this blog tour.

About this book…

ALICIA
Alicia Berenson writes a diary as a release, an outlet – and to prove to her beloved husband that everything is fine. She can’t bear the thought of worrying Gabriel, or causing him pain.

Until, late one evening, Alicia shoots Gabriel five times and then never speaks another word.

THEO
Forensic psychotherapist Theo Faber is convinced he can successfully treat Alicia, where all others have failed. Obsessed with investigating her crime, his discoveries suggest Alicia’s silence goes far deeper than he first thought.

And if she speaks, would he want to hear the truth?

THE SILENT PATIENT is the gripping must-read debut thriller of 2019 – perfect for fans of THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW by A.J. Finn, THIRTEEN by Steve Cavanagh and THE GIRL BEFORE by JP Delaney. Publishing in over 45 countries, and with the film coming from Oscar winning Plan B Productions, THE SILENT PATIENT is the only thriller you need to read in 2019.

My review…

I was lucky enough to have an early review copy of The Silent Patient so I excitedly took it on holiday with me last year. I started it on the flight over and when I arrived at my hotel it was the first thing out of my bag so that only 5 minutes after arriving, it was by the pool and on my sun lounger with me! I couldn’t wait to read one of 2019s most anticipated debuts and time in the sunshine gave me the opportunity to read it in peace and quiet with a large cocktail beside me! And OMG what a debut it is! Intelligent, intricately plotted and just so beautifully written. Alex Michaelides has created a shocking and darkly addictive puzzle to be solved and I loved every single page!

Theo the forensic psychotherapist is determined to get mute patient Alicia to talk. He is convinced he can succeed where others have tried and failed. But his plans to get her to open up to him mean he has to dig deeply into the lives of this golden couple who seemed to have the most perfect existence until one day when Alicia shoots her husband dead. Theo’s God complex means he’s convinced he is the only one able to help her but is he prepared for the truth of whatever she is holding onto deep inside?

I guarantee you won’t want to put this book down once you start it! The pacing of the plot is absolutely perfect and the reader is sucked into the lives of both Alicia and Theo as they narrate their stories. I have to say that there is a brilliant twist that I’m hoping will come as a complete surprise to the majority of its readers but that I did guess pretty quickly due to my huge consumption of psychological thrillers in the past. Saying that, it did not affect my enjoyment of The Silent Patient one little bit as I completely appreciated the build up to the shocking truth about the night of Gabriel’s murder.

This is the ultimate page turner-absorbing, mesmerising and utterly unputdownable!

Highly recommended by me!

I am a Norfolk girl living in leafy Cheshire with my grumpy Scotsman. A mum and nana who lives for my family but who is also addicted to reading (and Marmite!) I will read almost anything but my preferred genres to review are psychological thrillers, crime procedural novels or women's fiction. My kindle is my life but I also have a substantial bookshelf in my cosy reading room where I can go to escape the stresses of family life with plenty of tea and chocolate. I am a member of netgalley and bookbridg. I review on Amazon, where I'm a Top 500 reviewer, and Goodreads. You can always find me over on Twitter @jocatrobertson for any review requests.
